Specifically designed for children four to six years of age where they will begin to learn the fundamental life skills such as self-discipline, focus, self-control respect, patience and confidence. Dragons will also learn fine motor skills such as strength, balance, flexibility, and coordination. Our Dragons program has a fun and energetic class format helps the young students develop skills that set them up for success in life. The structure of the Boon Dragons program is a key principle of success of the student as it’s a preparatory training program for the Junior Martial Arts Program.
Our Juniors program is a hybrid system which incorporates training methods of karate and TaeKwonDo with westernized boxing, judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The program combines traditional values and principles with a modern system of combat, self-defense and fitness. Each child advances at their own pace. The key to our success is each discipline is introduced in stages to the student, rather than front-loading a program. Juniors will learn self-discipline as they achieve goals, which serves as a strong foundation in all aspects of life. BMA has a variety of instructors teaching our program. This gives students an advantage of learning martial arts from different perspectives, which enhances the quality of training.
Developing advanced coordination and body awareness from a young age can have positive long lasting effects. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is the a great style for young kids to master as it helps build these motor skills as well as builds mental strength. BJJ is a non-striking self-defense martial art that is considered to be one of the best self-defenses for kids and adults since it is applied in response to physical aggression. The sport is also designed so that a smaller and/or weaker person could use leverage to defend him or herself against a larger, stronger opponent. BJJ conditions the body and mind to be able to maneuver through many types of difficult scenarios and it provides the knowledge to safely defend against an opponent. At BMA we require our students to treat each other and instructors with respect which creates a positive and respectful environment that demonstrates to trainees the rewards that come with being courteous, respectful, and hardworking. Muay Thai is a combat sport from Thailand that uses stand-up strikes along with various clinch techniques. This physical and mental discipline is known as "the art of eight limbs" because it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees and shins during training. Individuals participating in this program achieve outstanding physical conditioning due to the highly intense yet fun nature of striking through the use of bag drills, mitt drills and pad work. This self paced class is taught by high level instructors with years of training in this discipline, who encourage each participant to reach their full physical potential.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a combat sport that allows striking and grappling, both standing and on the ground, using techniques from other martial arts. Our program specializes in the disciplines of Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Individuals participating in this program will find useful techniques to apply in a real fight situation: stand up, clinch and ground fighting. MMA not only provides students with a deeper understanding of the mechanics and limits of the human body, but also enhances their problem solving skills, abilities, rapid decision making, and greater body awareness.
For the member who wants to learn the valuable techniques of martial arts outside of a group setting, BMA offers specialized one-on-one training sessions. Members get individually structured personal instruction from one of our certified martial arts trainers. Training sessions are customized to benefit each student in any skill level, from a novice student wanting a more personal experience or an advanced student preparing for competition. We also offer online private training sessions for those who are on the move or cannot train in-studio.
The BMA Leadership Program focuses on developing leaders, not only in Martial Arts, but in the community as well. Each month leadership students are required to demonstrate and apply a new leadership skill at home, at school, and in the Martial Arts training. The BMA Leadership Program is an instructor recommended program. Students must first attain a blue belt through the Intermediate Program. They must also demonstrate leadership qualities to receive nominations.
We offer a wide array of live virtual classes for both our kid and adult programs. These classes function and flow like our in-studio classes where we continue to train and teach new techniques and keep you fighting fit. Similar to our in-studio classes, we have a minimum of two instructors monitoring the online classes. While one instructor leads the class, the other manages and provides real-time corrections and encouragement to our virtual students. We know that sometimes it is impossible to maintain a consistent schedule, so our online schedule has varied class times to help make training available to fit your busy schedule. Our online training program gives your whole family the opportunity to take on new activities together while getting the same accountability and results as an in-studio class.
